Sanmar Shipyards has delivered its ninth tugboat to global marine services provider P&O Maritime Logistics, marking another significant milestone in a partnership that has continued for more than a decade.
The relationship between the two companies began in 2013 when P&O received its first Sanmar-built tug. Since then, eight additional Sanmar tugboats have joined the fleet, operating in various ports around the world.
The latest addition has been named AL FATH by its new owners.
Based on the RAmparts 2200 design developed by Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd., the Sırapınar Class serves as the compact sister series to Sanmar’s popular Boğacay Class. With a 2-metre reduction in length, these vessels maintain impressive performance and exceptional manoeuvrability.
Powered by Caterpillar main engines and Schottel Z-drive propulsion, AL FATH features:
Designed for efficient low-manning operation, the Sırapınar Class is equipped with advanced automation systems and is known for excellent handling, seakeeping and stability.
Headquartered in Dubai, P&O Maritime Logistics provides offshore support, cargo transportation and port services across the energy, oil & gas, renewables and port logistics sectors. Sanmar-built tugboats currently operate for the company in the UAE, Mozambique, Somaliland, the Dominican Republic, and several other regions.
Prior to AL FATH, Sanmar delivered the powerful RAstar 2900SX design tugs P&O GAYNDE and P&O ASIA, each tailored to the company’s diverse operational needs.
Although AL FATH differs significantly from these larger models, all vessels share the common purpose of delivering customised maritime solutions for P&O Maritime Logistics.
