Tuzla, Türkiye – Sanmar Shipyards’ newest tugboat, built for Chile-based operator Ultratug, has successfully completed an intensive programme of sea trials in Tuzla.
Known during construction as Boğaçay LXXIX, the tug is based on the RAmparts 2400SX-MKII design by Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd., a model exclusively produced by Sanmar. Compact yet powerful, the tug has been specifically tailored to meet Ultratug’s demanding operational requirements.
During the trials, which were attended by representatives from Ultratug, Sanmar, and classification and quality assurance teams, the vessel demonstrated excellent stability, manoeuvrability, and performance under a wide range of conditions.

“Completing these sea trials is a significant milestone in our partnership with Ultratug. We are confident it will provide reliable service while supporting Ultratug’s sustainability goals. At Sanmar, our mission is to deliver vessels that are efficient, safe, future-ready and environmentally responsible — qualities that define every Sanmar vessel.”
This delivery represents the latest addition to Sanmar’s Boğaçay Series, one of the shipyard’s most successful product lines. Constantly evolving to meet global market demands, the series combines compact design with high power and advanced environmental performance.
With sea trials now completed, the vessel will undergo final delivery preparations before joining Ultratug’s fleet, where it will provide safe, powerful, and eco-friendly support in port operations across Latin America.
